I don't have a truck small enough to teach Medium Rigid (MR) in, but that doesn't mean I can't help you!

WHY STOP AT MR WHEN YOU COULD GO HR?
Here's something worth thinking about.
An HR licence includes MR and the lower rigid vehicle classes, subject to any conditions on your licence.
That means you could get the licence coverage you need for your current role while giving yourself more flexibility for larger vehicles and different employment opportunities later.

fyou're looking at getting your MR licence to drive a fire truck, rural fire brigade vehicle, SES truck, delivery truck, furniture removal truck or two-axle bus, have you considered making the jump straight to Heavy Rigid (HR) instead?
If you're eligible, you could walk away with a higher licence class that opens up even more opportunities!
You might only need MR for a fire truck or delivery vehicle today, but what if you decide to drive larger buses, concrete agitators, waste collection trucks or heavy rigid tippers down the track?

AM I ELIGIBLE TO GO STRAIGHT TO HR?
In Queensland, the general minimum licence-holding requirements are:
For MR:

Hold a class C licence for at least 1 year.
For HR:
-
Hold a class C licence for at least 2 years; OR
-
Hold an LR or MR licence for at least 1 year.
Learner licence time does not count towards these periods. Other eligibility requirements and licence conditions apply.
Always confirm your eligibility with Queensland Transport and Main Roads (TMR) before booking.
If you're not eligible for HR yet, or your employer specifically wants MR training, get in touch and we'll discuss your options.
WHAT IS A MEDIUM RIGID LICENCE?
An MR licence covers trucks and buses over 8 tonnes GVM with no more than two axles, as well as vehicles in lower licence classes, subject to your licence conditions.
You might need one for:

Certain fire trucks and rural fire service vehicles, some SES emergency response and support trucks

Two-axle buses and community transport, Local delivery and distribution trucks

Furniture removal trucks, Council and maintenance vehicles
